because a professional won't just guess the diagnosis. They should listen to your syptoms and then analyse what it is that you are going through

there is proper diagnosis / test for depression or anyother mental health illness. they will ask about you habits and give you some situations and ask your reaction to them. after all that they come to a conclusion and conclude what illness one is suffering from if any.
