Anxiety during sex

In the last two weeks our therapists have answered 211 queries related to mental health.

I had sex for the first time with my girlfriend recently and I got very anxious. I couldn't last long because of it either and it made things awkward as well. I had been thinking about it for so long that when it came to actually doing it I got very nervous. I want to talk about it with my gf but I don't know how to approach the situation without seeming like I'm covering up for my lack in performance. I wonder if she might not love me because of it anymore.

Despite what media tells us, the first time you have sex is usually not very good. It takes time to calm your nerves and get in sync. So do not feel that you're the odd one out. You can approach the subject with your girlfriend by asking her what parts she liked and what both of you could improve on. Then you could tell her how you felt. Communicating honestly from the start will help you get rid of all awkwardness.

You wouldn't want to stay together with somebody who'd stop loving you just because the first time you had sex with them wasn't the greatest. I'm sure she understands that these things need some time so don't worry and just tell her how you feel.

try to talk to her about it ... just say that it was your first time so u did not have any experience .... girls usually would like to discuss these problems with their bf if he is respectfull
