Depressed because of broken relationship with father

I have a toxic father. I'm a girl and wanted to pursue higher studies. My father wanted to perform my marriage. I knew the importance of studies and continued with it. Due to this, my father did not speak to me for many years. My relationship with him was completely broken. I am suffering from depression since my own father hates me, doesn't talk to me and doesn't understands me.... Please help me to come out of my depression

Hey! Thanks for reaching out. I am sure it must have impacted you negatively. Fathers are one of the most important individuals in daughter’s life. Having a strained relationship must be distressing. But what you did wasn’t wrong. It’s important to study you took the right stand. Don’t feel guilty about it. Talk to your father and tell him that you love him and you did not disobey him. You want the old bond back. Are you not willing get married now also? Ask your mom to get the conversation initiated b/w him and you.
