Depression due to financial stress

In the last two weeks our therapists have answered 211 queries related to mental health.

Me and my wife had a child late last year and we were overjoyed to welcome our baby, but a couple months later I lost my job. I'm the sole supporter of my family. We have been biting off our savings for the past 3 months but our funds are starting to diminish whereas I can't even find a job. I feel inadequate as a father and I'm scared as to what might happen in the future. The repeated rejections from companies is starting to crush my self worth and I feel depressed and sad often.

Hey, When you're the provider of people you love, feeling inadequate in these circumstances is understandable. But, you trying so hard makes you a good father and a husband. For the time being, keep applying for jobs and incase you can't find one, consider freelancing for a bit. Also try cutting down your costs, lack of finances does not mean that you don't care for your child.

Rejection is a part and parcel of life. You've been employed before and hence, you've been through this cycle already. So try to not take rejections to your heart. You never know which opportunity will turn up. Use all online platforms to look for a job and you will atleast find something your family can sustain on. If you do find it harder to make ends meet, discuss with your wife if you could somehow reduce you expenses or if she might help out a little. All the best :)
