I'm afraid of being alone forever

In the last two weeks our therapists have answered 211 queries related to mental health.

I'm 25 and I've never been in a relationship. I don't think anybody has ever liked me romantically either. My parents got divorced when I was pretty young and I lived with my mum after. She died about 2 years ago so I feel like there's nobody in the world that cares about me. The lockdown was extremely difficult for me mentally but now even though things have started opening up, I'm just as alone as ever and this depresses me.

Hey, 25 is pretty young still. As far as the familial front is concerned, I can understand your pain. Are you in touch with your father? Maybe you could work on your bond with him.

See you can't force yourself or somebody else to fall in love. What you can initiate is friendship, so try to widen your social circle by talking to more people. Most guys often meet potential partners through common friends so it's always a safe option. You could also consider going on dating apps, the success rate isn't super high but atleast you could explore what you want in a partner.
