well let me explain this for you . we often start to find comfort in our depression as it creates a sense in our subconscious mind that we are in power. when you are depressed you may notice some behavioral changes in you. for example, maybe you dont cry too often bcuz u r numb. or maybe you had a really bad breakdown, but that sets a new emotional limit for you. maybe you are often scared of messing normal things up that you always make sure that everything you do is perfect. your mind tends to think that these are some superpowers. so your subconscious mind feels threatened that it might lose its 'superpowers' so that makes you want to stay depressed and miserable
