how to deal with office politics I'm new their and i don't want have hard feelings for any one but today i may be Heard my colleague calling me brain less and it's really hurts me like I'm new their they should teach me how they work and how should I work and it's just hurt me how can someone call someone brain less with out doing anything wrong

may i know if this is your first job? is this colleague in the same field as you to even justify the comment? it is so valid to feel this way, but just know...it has nothing to do with you. the reason for anyone to say that usually comes from a place of ignorance or secret envy. I have had a bad comment thrown to me directly from my boss, so i know how it greatly affects the motivation.

i would say to feel this experience and see where it takes you. do you feel upset now? would you feel anger later? do i even care about this colleague enough 1 or 2 years from now to ruin my career objective? because i can assure you,this won't be the first time hurtful comments get to you in the same office. gotta choose the 'right' bad comments to fuel your energy to improve yourself.

to me, the only person you should care about is your boss's opinion of you. because they are the ones who will appraise your performance and salary upgrade. it will take time to learn not to care about pleasing people who don't give a sh*t about you.
