Actually, I have been there. You can't do anything about it. Caring for someone, loving them comes naturally. It shouldn't be forced that's what I have learnt from my experiences. Be it your family or friends or your relationships.
What you can do is try to pull back a little and assess that situation. If this relation is causing you more stress and anxiety then maybe you need to take a deep breath and think a bit rationally. It's difficult believe me but you will be making space for someone and something more special. Before you do that try focus on yourself first your needs first. You are not selfish for thinking about yourself
