put one hand on your stomach and other on your chest, take deep breaths and inhale through your nose, exhale through your mouth.

Just seeing the word makes me panic. But what seems to work for me is distraction and cool air, so open your windows or walk outside and breathe in the cool air and do not sit awkwardly cause that can sometimes make you feel uncomfortable to the point of getting panic attacks. Also hugs help and head patting, but if you have no one to hug then hug a cool pillow.
