problem in getting married because of family

General Query

I am facing difference in opinion with my family regarding my marriage ...I am in a long term relationship and we want to get married but my parents are not in favour just because the guy is not from our state , they have lot of expectations with me and they told me they felt this decision is indicating my disrespect towards them and they felt unimportant but that isn't the actual thing, I am person who is very particular about my choices and if I tell I found someone who I felt is perfect to share my life with, dosent mean i am insulting them...i have tried everything to convince them they are just ignoring this fact since i have told them...i dont know how to explain them...please help

is it such a big deal to have a interstate marriage!!!..how is this letting them down!!...I get disturbed and distracted quite often then it requires lot of time and effort to get back to normal

Hey thanks for reaching out 🙂 It is important that your parents spend some time with the guy to know his personality. It is important that both of you together sit down with them and explain the dynamics of your relationship to make them feel secured about the guy.

I have tried to talk out but my parents are just postponing their meeting with my boyfriend and I getting too anxious about uncertainty.....i get all sorts of negative thoughts and I cannot imagine a situation where i have to choose any one side...I try a lot of things to calm down myself like watching movies , focus on career but it isn't helping...just decreasing my focus and capability
