Stressed after meeting partner’s family

Hey everyone I am in a relationship since 5 yrs. I was introduced to his parents since the beginning of this relationship. And ever since we used to talk over phone. But today I met them in person. And realised that they are a bit toxic. I am devastated and would want to share every detail about it as I am unable to share it with anyone else

Okay so first of all how much time you've spend with someone doesn't matter if you find them toxic ...and if you want to marry that guy you have to handle his parents too

If you think your love is so strong it's been 5 years ..then I guess there won't be any problem to tell the guy directly that this is the problem and how should I handle this

That's my worst fear. How will I deal with them if they seem toxic? I just couldn't help but breakdown today after reaching home. I would really appreciate if someone would share their opinions after listening the entire incident. Did I overreacted or was it really something toxic

Toxic in what sense what did they exactly did

As I mentioned earlier. Today was the first time met them. Actually my boyfriend is completing his post graduation from a different state. And his parents came over to consult a doctor for some health issues. I agreed to help them out. But it turned out I had to do everything. I politely asked them if they could bring along someone else as well because doing everything was getting too difficult for me

But they kept pressuring me to do everything instead. They have another son. But denied to ask him to take a leave for a day. Instead indicated its my responsibility to help them out

They didn't even appreciate my help and kept on asking more and more. Finally when I did almost 90% for the work and politely explained them what else was left and how to get them done his father again was adamant and asked me to help them out again tomorrow

And obviously it's not your responsibility ..you are not their daughter ..and still you did all that for them ..and after making all this effort if they still don't appreciate you then you should discuss it with your boyfriend

Or just make any excuse and don't go to help them lol .they can ask their other son

Exactly. That's what I felt too. I am going through admission process as well. When I told his father at last that tomorrow I might not be able to come but I have done 90% of everything because I too have some works regarding admissions and research. It seemed as if he asked me to forget about that and first focus on their problem. I was too disappointed. I told my boyfriend all about it. I broke down. And cried

It seemed They were solely relying on me today. Was reluctant to even call their sons. I really want to help them out but I am not at all okay with this behavior as well. I know I won't be able to deal with them

Then bro just tell them taht you are not free ..and if you have to get their love and attention after pleasing them and making so much efforts then who needs it ..you should focus more on yourself
