Hey, I know this is hard on you both. But you gotta be practical and think about the future. If there's no future, then the longer you hold on, the more it's gonna hurt.. so it is always best to let go and get ahold of ourselves when there is still time. Although, if you both love each other so much, I'm sure you can work a way out! My advice is to try and think of a way to be together whilst families on both sides are involved. If you reach a dead end then yes it's best to focus on yourself and try to move on.. which won't be easy but with time you'll be there

1) whenever you feel like going back, just remember the reason why your doing this, 2) let out the negative emotions, keeping them inside will make it more difficult to detach, 3) whenever you have any different conversations, try to respond instead of reacting, 4) start small by action like mediation, self care, mindfulness, etc, 5) keep a journal for your daily progress and write your positive thoughts in it and read it whenever you feel overwhelmed, 6) be patient with yourself, remember you won't be able to let go relationship like returning something on Amazon, you will experience a lot and it will take time.
