Depressed because of parents

In the last two weeks our therapists have answered 211 queries related to mental health.

My parents scold me all day every day. They pressurize me to top all exams and even beat me when I fail to do so. I try to do my best at all activities but I'm not a genius. I feel so underconfident because of this. I think I could become a professional gamer but my parents disregard it completely, they say it's a waste of time. I want to run away from this house.

Hello, Your parents shouldn't be beating you at all but I think their concern behind your education is not wrong entirely. To pursue something like gaming, you can do it in your free time and I suppose your parents wouldn't complain if you're scoring well.

Tell your parents that you try your best at school and make sure that you really do. Once your secure your career, you can take up gaming on your own. Don't think about running away, prove your capabilities to your parents and to yourself.
