The terms are often used interchangeably but don't mean the same thing.
Stress is our body's reaction to some trigger and is generally short lived.
Stress can be both positive and negative. It can both move us into action and overwhelm us.
Anxiety however, is a sustained mental health disorder that can be triggered by stress. Anxiety doesn't fad away once the trigger is removed. It can continue.
There are many ways to deal with anxiety. Meditation, healthy diet and exercise are all useful in dealing with anxiety.
A supportive social group, healthy relationships go a long way in dealing with it. It may also help to work on certain unhealthy thought patterns, negative views about ourselves, perfectionism, procrastination and negative attitudes.
There is no single cure for anxiety. However living a healthy well balanced life is a good start in the direction. Working with a therapist would be helpful.
